Nomadic Brew

A mobile ritual for slow gatherings.

Nomadic Brew is a mobile coffee and tea cart designed to support slow gatherings, shared rituals, and temporary moments of connection. Inspired by weekends spent in a countryside courtyard, the project explores how mobility, workflow, and hospitality can create meaningful social experiences through everyday rituals.

About the Project

Nomadic Brew is a mobile brewing cart designed for coffee and tea preparation in temporary social spaces. The project combines brewing workflow, organized storage, mobility, and hospitality into a compact system that can support both indoor and outdoor gatherings.

The design focuses on creating a calm and approachable experience through ritual-based interaction. Instead of treating coffee and tea preparation as simple utility, the project explores how small daily actions can encourage conversation, sharing, and slowing down.

The cart includes dedicated brewing zones, integrated water storage, hidden organization systems, and a magnetic backboard that allows the setup to adapt to different environments and communities.

Inspiration & Story

A Weekend Courtyard

The inspiration for this project began during weekends spent in a small countryside courtyard rented by my mother. During the summer, the space slowly became a place for resting, drinking tea, making coffee, cooking, and spending time with friends and family away from the city.

As more people visited the courtyard, I noticed how drinks often became the center of interaction. Preparing tea or hand-brewed coffee naturally created moments of waiting, conversation, and sharing. The process itself became just as meaningful as the final drink.

At the same time, I began reflecting on the pace of urban life and how little space people have for slowing down. This project became an exploration of how design can support temporary rituals and create opportunities for connection through everyday activities.

Nomadic Brew is not only a functional serving cart, but also a movable social space designed around hospitality, mobility, and shared experience.

Design Features

Storage System

The storage system is divided into three sections based on workflow. This organization helps create a clearer and more efficient brewing process.

  • The left side stores tea, coffee beans, and small tools.
  • The center stores cups, machines, and consumables.
  • The right side contains clean water and wastewater buckets.

Magnetic Backboard

The back panel functions as a flexible display surface for posters, menus, and seasonal graphics.
Although it appears to be a normal wooden panel, the structure combines plywood, steel sheet, and veneer, allowing magnets to attach easily while maintaining a simple visual appearance.

Mobility & Shared Ritual

Nomadic Brew was designed to move between courtyards, cafés, gardens, and temporary pop-up events.
More than a serving cart, the project treats tea and coffee preparation as a shared ritual that encourages conversation, interaction, and slowing down.

About Me

I am an industrial design student interested in creating meaningful experiences through objects, materials, and everyday rituals.

My work focuses on slow living, mobility, shared interaction, and the emotional relationship between people and functional systems. Through woodworking, prototyping, and material exploration, I aim to create designs that feel approachable, calm, and grounded in real-life experiences.

I am particularly interested in furniture, spatial interaction design.
