Koureloú

To spitáki, 28″ x 32″, oil on canvas, 2025

In this series, Koureloú, meaning patchwork in Greek, I explore themes of memory, materiality and dimensionality.

I am drawn to my own memories of Greece, my family’s home, moments from childhood when the sun felt warmer, and the colours looked brighter. Moments of community when violins play, wine is accidentally spilled, and feet dance to a familiar rhythm. I look at the canvas as a textile form and play with the stitch as a way to break up the format and push the dimensionality of each piece.

01/13/25

01/13/25 is a mini-series exploring memory and dream narrative through collage and painting.

Letting written words and memory guide the composition, I collaged images together. Allowing myself room for change throughout the painting process. I set out to depict a dream full of uncanny experiences and a narrative where the water shone beautifully yet dangerously for all who fell in or fished from its width.
