“Not everything lost is meant to return.”

Film Title: Greedy Waters
Director: Jakob W. Nadalin
Duration: 11ms19s
Genre: Adventure Fantasy

Logline

A devoted Captain John embarks on a relentless quest for a mythical pearl said to command the sea, but as the journey drags on and his crew begins to die, his obsession forces him toward an unthinkable sacrifice.

Synopsis

Captain John is driven by a singular goal: to recover his lost ship from the ocean’s depths using a magical pearl said to command the sea. However, what begins as a focused voyage slowly unravels into something far more dangerous. As the journey stretches on, the crew weakens under the strain, an illness spreads, morale collapses, and lives are lost. Blind to the growing cost, the Captain presses forward, his devotion hardening into obsession. By the time he reaches The Great Pearl of The Deep, the line between purpose and destruction has already been crossed. In the end, the price of reclaiming what was lost demands more than he is willing to see.

Artist Statement

This film began with a simple absence. I wanted a new pirate story that focused on the emotional constructs of one man. In creating it, Captain John became something more personal: A reflection of the dangers of unchecked obsession. His devotion to his ship and purpose slowly isolates him, blinding him to what he’s losing. I’m drawn to characters who exist in moral gray areas, where passion and destruction overlap. Through atmosphere, sound, and an epic storybook tone, I aimed to create something both intimate and beyond itself in scope. At its core, this film is about
imbalance, and the cost of realizing it’s too late.

Jakob W. Nadalin

J. W. Nadalin is a video content creator whose work explores heavily themed, often gimmicky pieces through character-driven storytelling. His projects frequently center on morally ambiguous figures, examining the tension between intention, consequence, and personal identity.
Working across multiple artistic disciplines, Jake brings a layered approach to his films. Initially with a portfolio of experimental work on liminal spaces and “the ghost in the machine“, his venture into narrative film making is a relatively new endeavor. Through these qualities, Jake blends visual storytelling with atmospheric sound and tone to create immersive, emotionally grounded, entertaining experiences.
