This project explores dreaming as a design methodology to offer a space of comfort. As dreams act as bridges to our inner world, they reflect how we process our reality, revealing hidden aspects of ourselves.

our dreams are a reflection of our reality.

As a way to process the many thoughts and feelings during our conscious experiences, we dream. Even though they can be difficult to understand, I believe that dreams act as bridges to our inner world, and being able to decipher their hidden messages could help us in our waking life.

dream journaling as an introspective and collaborative process.

My recorded dreams

To learn more about this familiar yet vague state of being, I tried recording my dreams. The more I wrote them down, the more details I was able to recall. Some dreams were more confusing than others, but they all drew from certain elements of my life and showed me how I felt about them.

Workshops for reflecting and sharing dreams

Through the shared experience of recalling and reflecting on dreams, I learned of others’ stories, characters, and values. They talked about how their dreams reflected their past experiences and behaviours. They talked about how their dreams showed their relationships with their family, friends, the people they prioritize in life. They talked about how their dreams revealed their sources of comfort and anxiety.

From being a part of these participatory workshops, I had learned the importance of recalling dreams. It pushes us to be open and honest, and to build understanding and connection with ourselves and others.
