PUFU: Where the Reefs Breaks Beneath Our Heat (2026)

I created this PUFU character as a body caught in the slow violence of environmental collapse. She is a form that feels both organic and wounded, yet still holding on. This specific PUFU represents the coral reefs bleaching. Its rounded, child-like figure initially conveys softness and familiarity, that is approachable and alive. However, I intentionally disrupted this sense of comfort through ruptures that spread across its surface, symbolizing the destruction caused by human neglect and environmental exploitation.

The deep fissures tear through the form, exposing a hollow interior as though the body has been forced open under immense pressure. These cracks are not clean or controlled; rather, they evoke suffocation, expansion, and internal stress caused by climate change. Through this work, the body becomes both a witness to and a consequence of ecological deterioration.
