Metazoa is a 32 page risograph comic, printed and hand-bound at Emily Carr University. This story follows the inner wonderings and anxieties of a Vera, a young girl who has lost her dog. This is a story about moving from childhood to adolescence, and the questions that go unanswered in her world of constant change.

Edition of 25. Violet and Purple ink, using 70# Mohawk Via Vellum for the interior, and 80# Mohawk Via Vellum for the Cover. This book was set in Minion Pro.

Amelie Shypilova

Amelie Shypilova (She/they) is a Vancouver cartoonist, obsessed with everything books. They have been self-publishing her comics for a few years, striving to tell nuanced stories based on themes close to her heart– such as queer identity, escapism, and growing up.

She has tabled at various comic conventions such as the Vancouver Comics Festival, and the Toronto Comics Festival, where she continues to pursue a career in indie comics, kids graphic novels, and children’s books.

She uses a mix of digital, mixed media, and risograph printing. While she’s not daydreaming ideas for her full-length graphic novel, you may find them reading, drinking matcha, going climbing, or subsequently falling.
