OUR GOAL
Vermilion is an innovative liquor brand valuing in evolving from tradition, and authenticity to yourself. It uses Vietnamese culture to tell a story about tradition, customs and designed for joyful moments at the centre of tables.
Vermilion’s ethos is creating moments inspired by tradition, and fired by passion, crafting delicious rice liquor to be the centre of gatherings.
Achieving this through our liquor process and visual branding. Vermilion’s story starts under the evening sun in the local streets of Vietnam, where people begin to nhậu(1) a popular activity where people bond over food, alcohol, and karaoke.


Our process
With packaging we celebrated traditional insect-infused/ snake-infused and rượu đế(2) liquor with a bold, modern take. While Vermilion ethically cannot mass produce insect-infused liquor, we can celebrate tradition through togetherness and community.
1. Nhậu a social custom in Vietnam, where people gather to sip drinks, have conversations, laugh, and build relationships. This custom is more about connection building and often followed by dishes.
2. Rượu đế is rice distilled liquor.

Inspired by elements found in Vietnam. The colour vermilion, is an energetic red-orange often seen in Vietnam’s sky and is the main feature in the Vermilion brand. The off-white, influenced by the rice grains used in the rice distillation process, pairs nicely with the rich basalt black. Found on Vietnam’s coast, basalt black grounds the brand and allows the vermilion colour and off-white to shine.




Wordmark
Reflecting the homemade history of ruou de, Vermilion has a hand written title to reflect the informal labels found on the locally produced bottles.
Typography
IBM Plex. When capitalized, the sharp sans-serif has a bold, energetic presence that aligns with Vermilion’s values.
