In the modern world of Hong Kong, two ancient beings—a green snake demon and a Chinese hopping vampire—move unnoticed among humans, concealing their true identities to survive in a world that has forgotten them. Fragments of their past unfold in a dreamlike montage, revealing the cultural histories they embody and the quiet struggle to endure as tradition fades.

Artist Statement

‘某種老朋友 – a certain old friend’ is a love letter to the city I called my home for 18 years. It’s a celebration of it’s most beautiful landscapes, as well as a story of how tradition and culture is slowly being left behind and forgotten in the past for the sake of ‘progression’. Hong Kong remains a strong part of my identity, a culture that I am proud to be a part of, and I want to share the love and joy I feel for my city with everyone. I leave the relationship of our two characters up to the interpretation of you, my dear audience, as I hope you come away with a feeling of wonder and curiosity.
